What is SCOUT BANANA?
SCOUT BANANA is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about the lack of basic health care in Africa and providing support to projects and organizations working in communities to provide basic health needs and build the capacity of health systems.
What does the name SCOUT BANANA stand for and when was it established?
SCOUT BANANA originally launched in 2001 as a Boy Scout Eagle Project to help provide medical transportation and supplies to a health center in Uganda. The Eagle Scout project was able to collect medical supplies and raise over $70,000 to purchase an ambulance. The name stands for Serving Citizens Of Uganda Today Because Africa Needs A New Ambulance. Although the goals have greatly expanded, the purpose of the first project remains the same for SCOUT BANANA’s continued work – raising awareness and helping health care initiatives in Africa.
